In July 2016, glossy Philippine magazine, PeopleAsia began gearing up to their prestigious annual event, the ‘Women of Style and Substance’ Awards – to take place on September 26th.

These eagerly awaited awards were toasted with a sophisticated lunch on July 20th at the Raffles hotel, which was co-sponsored by luxurious Swiss watchmaker and jeweller, Charriol.

Designed to champion global beauty queens that boast both beauty and brains, the pre-event was also a chance for powerful women to come together to celebrate modern femininity and female empowerment – both of which are key values for the Charriol brand.

In addition to the beauty queen hopefuls, the power lunch was attended by illustrious Filipina women including female entrepreneurs, lawyers, travel writers, actresses, business women, designers, philanthropists and editor-in-chief of PeopleAsia magazine. Guests were also graced with the presence of actress Jaclyn Jose, whose role in ‘Ma Rosa’ made her the first Filipina to win the title of Best Actress at this year’s Cannes film festival, and who is a huge star in the Philippines, with a 30-year acting career.

The lunch culminated in a photo-shoot to celebrate these talented women, who were all presented with Charriol jewelry and merchandise.

Charriol regularly supports charity programs with Kiwanis International and women’s empowerment in this way, through our activities such as the all-women Charriol Ladies Polo Team sponsorship or the Miss France beauty pageants, and a pledge to the Graduate Women International association which promotes educational and life opportunities for girls and women. A percentage of sales from Charriol’s St-Tropez™ watch collection is donated to the work of GWI.
